I had my 20 week scan on Monday just gone and I have to admit, I was a little nervous. Mainly, I just wanted to know that our little cub was going good and looking healthy so far. I also drank far too much water and ended up in pain and having to let a little bit go (try stopping mid stream with a bursting bladder… soooo hard!).
So when the jelly was spread along my belly and that wriggly growing little person was up on the screen I couldn’t quite compute that he/she was actually in there! After a few measurements and my incessant asking “Are they OK?” and “Is that normal?”, the sonographer eventually took the shot at the goods.
And there it was, meat and two veg. Part three of our family is a little dude!
Right then and there, this strange shift happened in my head and I went from thinking pregnancy to thinking baby. I cannot wait to meet this person!
As for finding out the sex, I’m so glad we did. I feel that Gavin and I have bonded more with the bub in the last week and we’re talking parenting values and nursery decor with a lot more confidence. I also know that Gavin is a bit more relaxed knowing he’s having a little boy as I guess he has more experience having been one himself. I, on the other hand was pretty sure we were having a girl, so although it was a surprise, I’m feeling pretty excited at the thought of being in a house of men! And secretly hope he’s a Mummy’s boy (for the first few years at least).
I’d love to know, would you/did you find out the sex of your little one?
Oh and follow my nursery Pinboard here.
